We are looking to build a team of the finest new creatives on the scene, to put together an innovative presentation of the 15 longlisted books for the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature, to be shown at a Shortlist Awards ceremony and dinner at a prestigious London venue during October 2010.
To demonstrate you have the skills and creative flair to join our team we need you to create a proposal for your own 2/3 min presentation of ONE chosen book. Your brief is to use innovative methods of presenting the book within the confines of a tight budget and in a limited staging area, using any chosen media (film, animation, photography, etc), or any chosen art form (dance, music, art, etc). You are welcome to work on the proposal in small teams of 2/3, bearing in mind you may not be selected as a team.
You may submit ideas for more than one book proposal, or multiple presentation ideas for one book, with the only criteria for your chosen book be that it must have been published prior to 1st April 2009 and is related in some way to South Asia, as per the eligibility criteria of the DSC prize. The idea is to convey the meaning and individuality of each book to a large audience in the shortest time and with the greatest impact possible.
Those who submit the best ideas will be selected to work on this exciting new project as part of the Awards Night Creative Team. The 15 longlisted books are announced 2/3 weeks before the Festival, and from this date the Creative Team will begin intensive work on the presentations, with further time commitments needed from you prior to this announcement for preparations.
If you are innovative, resourceful and have the determination and skill to bring a team project together in a limited time frame, please send us your submissions no later than August 15th – the sooner the better. This is a fantastic chance to build a strong portfolio in your creative field. We would be happy to see any portfolios / websites that you wish to send alongside your presentation.
Relevant creative degree/portfolio essential
This role is voluntary, expenses paid, and is primarily based in London.
