Description: The GLAAD Fellowship Program was created to develop new leadership in the movement for LGBT equality and provide a unique opportunity to build experience in media advocacy. GLAAD Fellows are given a great deal of responsibility and are directly supervised by experts in communications, journalism and media advocacy on GLAAD’s staff. GLAAD's fellowship program requires a commitment of one year and a minimum of 25-30 hours per week. GLAAD’s Asian Pacific Islander Fellow (API) will support the work of the API program by developing and managing projects, providing monitoring and logistical support and engaging in our media advocacy efforts. GLAAD’s API Fellow will work with state groups, API LGBT groups and allied groups and assist them with their media work. The Fellow will also build and sustain relationships with the Asian Pacific Islander News Media. The Fellow will research media contacts, pitch stories, track media contacts, write blog posts, assist in writing op-eds and letters to the editor and develop contact databases.
