Queer Girls in Class: Lesbian Teachers and Students Tell Their Classroom Stories
Deadline: AUGUST 15, 2010. Queer Girls in Class—an anthology–will collect personal narratives by lesbian teachers and students who speak about sexual identity and its effects on the teaching and learning process. The mission of this anthology is to provide, through personal stories, an analysis of how sexuality (specifically, how being a queer woman) can influence classroom dynamics in the high school and university setting.

I welcome first-person essays from women who write about the surprises, successes or challenges (personal and political) that queer women–whether out of the closet or not–have experienced in a high school or university setting. I am seeking diverse voices and welcome submissions from instructors and students who identity as lesbian or bi-sexual.
