Free Lecture Opens LIRA Poetry Clinic (Philippines)
On June 6, 2010 (Sunday), the annual Filipino poetry clinic of the Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo (LIRA) kicks off with a lecture by National Artist for Literature Virgilio S. Almario, also known as the poet Rio Alma. The lecture titled "Reklamasyon sa Pambansang Gunita" will be held at 1:00 PM in Room 201 of the College of Arts and Letters New Building in UP Diliman, Quezon City. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The LIRA Poetry Clinic has been held yearly since 1985, featuring lectures and workshops focusing on the different aspects of poetry. Its workshops have produced award-winning poets such as Roberto and Rebecca AƱonuevo, Romulo Baquiran Jr., Michael Coroza, Vim Nadera, Jerry Gracio, Mesandel Virtusio Arguelles, and Edgar Samar.

LIRA is still accepting sign-ups for its yearly clinic for poetry in Filipino until May 29, 2010. All those interested must submit one Word Document file containing the following: one-page bio data, ID picture, contact numbers, and five (5) poems in Filipino, to palihan@liraonline.org.

Prof. Michael Coroza will serve as the Director of the 2010 Poetry Clinic; Phillip Kimpo Jr. is the current President of LIRA.
