2010 Ivy Terasaka Short Story Competition Call for Submissions
Our Own Voice Literary Ezine (www.ourownvoice.com) is now accepting submissions for the 2010 Ivy Terasaka Short Story Competition. We are seeking original and unpublished short stories up to 5,000 words by Filipino writers, writers of Filipino heritage or non-Filipino writers on their experiences of Filipino culture. Email all submissions as attachments to the Editor at our.own.voice@gmail.com no later than August 2, 2010. For rules of the competition, please send an email request.

The competition was named in memory of Ivy Terasaka, an emerging writer based in Singapore and victim of the Tsunami of 2004. She was a familiar face and voice at various Singapore literary events. In late 2003, Ivy discovered Our Own Voice (OOV) and submitted a short story, published posthumously in the January 2005 issue. To honor her dream of being a writer, OOV is holding this annual competition in her memory.

Past winners include Veronica Montes (2005) for Bernie Aragon Jr. Looks for Love, http://www.ourownvoice.com/stories/stories2005d-1.shtml;
