The Department of General Education at Sungshin Women's University is looking for friendly, experienced, committed and qualified non-tenure track full time instructors. We currently have 17 native instructors from 7 different countries and we are looking to add valuable members to our team.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must be native English speakers from a visa compliant country.
- Applicants should ideally have an MA or a higher degree in TESOL, Education, Linguistics or other English-related subjects.
- Applicants must have had experience in teaching university or adult academic and / or practical writing.
Duties:
- Teach 12 to 15 credit hours per week (depending on semester demand and scheduling) including Academic / Practical Writing and Conversational English Classes
- Participate in course & materials development (particularly course book evaluation) and maintain a minimum of 15 office hours per week (for class preparation, marking, grading and teamwork / meetings)
- Participate in all staff meetings, seminars and workshops including the planning meeting at least 10days prior to the semester starting
- Conduct mentoring sessions with enrolled students during office hours
Terms of Contract:
- Contract will be renewed on an annual basis based on objective evaluation results and other performance criteria deemed important by the dean and department management
- Annual salary will be approximately 28 million to 32 million won (plus overtime payment for extra classes) depending on educational background and teaching experience (fixed pay brackets have been established). Summer and winter holidays usually add up to at least 14 weeks of paid vacation per year (typical university holidays)
- Health insurance and Private Pension Fund contribution is provided as required by law

- A 15 week sample syllabus for students with over 700 TOEIC scores – this should include a course title, recommended materials, basic class content and assessment methods
