The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators presents Distance Critique Opportunity with two U.S. editors plus Workshop: Interpreting Critiques and Planning Next Steps for our Work.

Two U.S. children’s book editors, Sylvie Frank (Paula Wiseman Books/Simon & Schuster) and Sally Morgridge (Holiday House), will offer written distance critiques of picture book text (to 600 words), 32-page picture book dummies, or MG/YA novel openings (up to 3,000 words).
  • Event Time: Saturday, April 20, 2013, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Place: Tokyo Women’s Plaza, Conference Room 1, 5-53-67 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo (by the Children‘s Castle and United Nations University; for a map see www.scbwi.jp/map.htm)
  •  This event will be in English.
  • Fees: Critique and Event—SCBWI members 4,000 yen, nonmembers 5,000 yen; Event Only--members 500 yen, nonmembers 1,000 yen
  • RSVP:Reserve a critique by March 15. Reserve for event only by April 19. Email contact@scbwi.jp
Reservations for critiques must be made by March 15; to register visit www.scbwi.jp or email contact@scbwi.jp. Materials for critique must be submitted to SCBWI Tokyo by March 20 according to guidelines received after registration. Materials will be sent electronically to the editors who will provide a written critique for each work. The written critiques will be distributed at the April 20 event which will focus on reading and accepting critiques and planning our next steps for our creative work.

SCBWI Japan members who cannot attend the April 20 event may register for a critique to be delivered electronically after the April 20 event; there is no discount for those not attending the April 20 event.
