Y!ARABIC ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR

• Primary Location: United Arab Emirates-Dubai-Dubai Internet City
• Reporting to: Entertainment Senior Editor

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Overlook an entertainment project for Yahoo! Maktoob Arabic
• Producing and editing articles, features, etc.
• Maintain events diary in consultation with MENA Media team
• Making relevant editorial choices, crafting appealing headlines and teaser copy, choosing and prepare appropriate imagery.
• Manage social media coverage for specific events
• Create user experiences which encourage repeat use and adoption of social media pages and drive repeat visits to Yahoo! Maktoob properties
• Driving Sensing the Social Pulse (SSP) initiative by developing feature and special execution ideas in coordination with Yahoo! Maktoob media property editors
• Liaise with the communities and forums team to highlight the input of Yahoo! Maktoob users on media properties and promote media properties on communities and forums
• Manage competing priorities, budgeting time
• Providing editorial support where required, particularly on content provision, acquisition and sourcing.
• Contribute ideas to the content and product development process for various editorial initiatives and projects.
• Work with video team to produce and edit video content and make sure it is tested and uploaded in timely fashion

REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong Arabic writing and editorial skills
• Minimum 2 year’s experience as a journalist and/or editor working on an entertainment/lifestyle focused Arabic title or web site
• Very good knowledge of modern standard Arabic grammar
• English highly competent (written and spoken)
• A solid grounding in basic principles of writing for the Web and editing experience in a dynamic online editorial environment
• A thorough understanding of editorial best practices and priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Presentation skills and strong deadline management
• Great team player and relationship-builder
• Experience with online publishing tools
• University degree or equivalent required
