For Science Authors: 2013 Southeast Asia Author Workshop (Malaysia)
Together with prestigious Universities in Malaysia, Springer and Edanz Group will host a series of FREE workshops for scientific authors in early March 2013. The workshops are designed to help authors to write quality manuscripts that will be attractive to SCI/SSCI indexed journals. This workshop is for faculty members, research professors and PhD students who are interested in writing and publishing manuscripts and journal articles, as well as books.

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

The workshop consists of the following parts:
  •  Springer’s strategy in Asia (10 mins): Springer is one of the leading scientific Publishing companies worldwide with a focus on online publishing. The presentation will explain the strategic background for the company’s expansion to South East and Central Asia.
  • Malaysia - Creator and User of Scientific Information (30 mins): An introductory talk about Malaysia’s achievements in research over the years and how these achievements can be further enhanced by the continued development of international scientific publications led by regional researchers.
  • Author Academy: Steps to Publication Success (2 hrs): This module presented by Edanz covers the basics of scientific publishing and the entire process of writing and getting a manuscript accepted. Topics covered will include: preparing yourself for the writing process, journal selection, structuring manuscripts, language that clearly communicates your research, preparing effective cover letters, and responding to peer review. It will be useful for anyone involved with English-language scientific communication, with a focus on providing young scientists with the skills needed for publication success.
  • Journal and Book Publishing (20 mins): How does Springer assist its authors in their publication endeavors? An overview will be given of the process from idea to finished book, and the requirements of a (successful) book proposal. Springer will also highlight a variety of publication types – print and online formats, which will benefit to authors who publish manuscripts with us. Furthermore, journal types will also be discussed.
