ARISE Networks is a brand new global broadcaster recruiting for news centres in London, New York, Lagos and Johannesburg and across international news bureaux in Washington DC, Dakar, Nairobi, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro, Beijing, New Delhi and Los Angeles.

DEPUTY MANAGING EDITOR

Key Duties:
  • To lead the programme- making teams of ARISE News.
  • To create innovative production treatments to enhance the story-telling and the delivery of breaking news, sports, business and weather.
  • To deputise for the Managing Editor and to support the Managing Editor in all strategic and operational activities.
  • Overseeing all ARISE News production – ensuring continuity of quality, accuracy and original thinking
  • Ensuring effective workflows and communication are maintained between all ARSE News staff worldwide – providing maximum on-screen value from the work of Input and Output teams editorially and technically
  • Managing editorial budgets, in partnership with other members of the ARISE News Editorial Directorate.
Experience:
  • Deep experience of leading large editorial teams.
  • Experience of managing newsroom budgets.
  • Experience of rolling news provision.
  • Evidence of production flair and original thinking in delivering dynamic results on screen.
  • Experience of strategic editorial and operational planning across large teams.
  • Experience of international newsgathering and major event coverage.
NEWS EDITOR

Key duties:
  • Run the international news desk and all aspect of newsgathering.
  • Participation in daily news and planning meetings.
  • Ensuring news desk is properly run and to liaise with wire and video agencies (AP and Reuters).
  • Implementation of coverage of breaking news in association with all bureau and other news partners.
  • Assisting in communication and workflow within the London Bureau with management, international teams and output team.
Experience:
  • Proven strong news judgment and communication skills.
  • The ability to keep calm under pressure.
  • Understanding of global newsgathering.
  • Experience with a major TV news organization in international news.
  • The ability to work with deadlines.
ASSISTANT NEWS EDITOR

Key duties:
  • Run the international news desk and all aspect of newsgathering.
  • Participation in daily news and planning meetings.
  • Ensuring news desk is properly run and to liaise with wire and video agencies (AP and Reuters).
  • Implementation of coverage of breaking news in association with all bureau and other news partners.
  • Assisting in communication and workflow within the London Bureau with management, international teams and output team.
Experience:
  • Proven strong news judgment and communication skills.
  • The ability to keep calm under pressure.
  • Understanding of global newsgathering.
  • Experience with a major TV news organization in international news.

RESEARCHER / COORDINATOR

Key duties:
  • Sourcing information data and footage for news and documentaries.
  • Securing copyrights and attending to copyright issues.
  • Securing access to, and negotiating fees for contributors and locations
  • Setting budgets for documentaries and research projects and coordinating the shooting.
  • Suggesting original programme ideas
Require qualification: A University degree or equivalent academic or professional qualification.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of TV/film research experience.
