The Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival is here again to celebrate the pleasure of reading and promote the art of children’s books.
In this edition a number of new awards will be created to further encourage the development of children’s books with further emphasis being placed on the selection, judging and marketing mechanisms.
GOALS OF THE AWARD: Encouraging authors and other creators to design good quality works of children’s literature, that can help develop the child’s literary and cultural strength, build his/her literary awareness, and enrich the Arabic library with good literary works for children.
CATEGORIES:

CATEGORIES:
An annual award is granted to the winning children’s books in the following categories:
- Children’s books in Arabic language for age category 3-5 years
- Children’s books in Arabic language for age category 6-8 years
- Children’s books in Arabic language for age category 9-13 years
- Children’s books in a foreign language for age category 13-17 years
CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION:
- The participating work should be original with a distinctive subject
- The book should not be older than 2 years
- Should not have participated and won a local, Arab or foreign prize
- Should observe the rules of copyright
- Series or educational books are rejected
- Translated and adopted works are rejected
- The age category targeted by the work should be specified in the participation form
- The participating works will be assessed by a jury of experts in the field
- The award will be launched after the conclusion of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival every year
- Deadline for submission will be two months prior to the subsequent edition
- Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded in a special ceremony
- Participation form (after being filled)
- 3 non-returnable copies of the participating work
- Summary of the publishing house and CV of the writer/illustrator
- Copy of the authoring contract for every participating work
