Thomson Reuters is looking for experienced and talented journalists to join the Asia editing desk, based either in Sydney or Singapore. As part of a global editing network, the successful candidates will work with reporters to produce a compelling file in one of the most exciting regions of the world.
ESSENTIAL DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The sub-editors will be part of a global team that ensures the quality of the Reuters file by carefully editing stories to ensure they are not only factually and grammatically accurate but also contain the context to enable our clients to quickly make sense of the news. As a senior sub editor you will not only be expected to edit for content, but work with reporters to develop stories that set the agenda and make Reuters the must read news agency for financial clients. Potential stories range from earnings reports of major U.S. corporates, global market moves, monetary policy to diplomatic disputes. Candidates with a background in financial reporting and/or editing will be preferred.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least five years experience as a journalist, preferably with some editing experience in a financial environment
- Knowledge of and interest in global markets and politics
- Ability to work remotely with reporters and editors in another country to shape a story
- Strong big-picture writing skills to ensure stories have key context for readers
- Ability to edit and move breaking news copy quickly
- A multimedia mindset to help improve the quality and depth of the file.
