Workshop at Ubud Festival: The Art and Craft of Travel Writing (Indonesia)
Date: 3 October 2012 (10am - 4:30pm)

This full-day workshop, led by award-winning travel writer and editor Don George, will combine lectures and in-the-field writing exercises to give participants a sense of how to find and structure a travel story, and how to evoke a place with concision and power. Don’s goal is to provide participants with the tools to identify and compose their best travel story. Participants will write, read and discuss short writing exercises during the course of the workshop. Attention will also be paid to working with editors and maximizing the different opportunities that traditional and new media offer.

Don George is the author of the best-selling Lonely Planet Guide to Travel Writing and editor of eight acclaimed literary travel anthologies, including The Kindness of Strangers and Better Than Fiction. He is Editor at Large for National Geographic Traveler.
