The Culture Trip's Icons of Culture Writing Competition (international)

The Culture Trip's Icons of Culture Writing Competition (international)
Deadline: 31 August 2012

Can you define what makes a country’s culture special? Showcase your cultural writing in our monthly competition. The best articles every month receive a free Travel Bag of books or films and will be featured on our homepage.

As part of our project to catalogue the culture of every country in the world we are looking for icons of culture and art from across the globe. We would like you to send us the artists, writers, musicians or film makers you would recommend for your country or any other country whose culture you feel particularly familiar with. Put forward your selection and we will feature them in our global gallery of cultural icons. We aspire to have at least one icon for every country in the world.

If you can convincingly argue the particular relevance of your chosen icon(s) in a few hundred words, we will publish your article in the country’s section on the site, which will be seen by The Culture Trip community in more than 190 countries across the world. The author of the best article will win a prize of one of our Travel Bags - three books or films from the country of their choice, as well as having his or her article featured on our homepage for a week, published in our newsletter, and publicised via social media.

Submissions should be approximately 500 words, and should be sent to our email address. The deadline for submissions for this month is the 31st of August 2012. Winners will be announced soon after.
