In conjunction with the on-going London Olympics, the Lincoln Resource Center is pleased to invite you to participate in an original English Essay Writing Competition on Sportsmanship and the Olympics.

COMPETITION RULES:

The competition begins August 6 and ends at close of business on August 27, 2012. You may submit your essays during this period via e-mail (only) to: IRCKualalumpur@state.gov

Participants must be between the ages of 16 and 20.

The essay must be typed in English; 200-300 words (no more or fewer, including the title), Times Roman font, and 12 point font size.

At the bottom of your essay, provide:
  • total word count
  • your full name
  • age
  • e-mail address
  • postal mailing address
  • telephone numbers

VISIT THE LINCOLN CORNER NEAR YOU: You are welcome to visit the Lincoln Corners to browse through the collection, including the books, periodicals, multimedia materials and database, to expand your understanding of sportsmanship and the Olympics, and related topics. You may use the Lincoln Corner computer/s, iPads, and Kindles if you wish, to type and submit your original essays (no plagiarism). Only the winner and runners-up will be notified. Results will be published on September 10, 2012.

PRIZE: The winning essay will be published on the U.S. Embassy and Lincoln Resource Center websites and social media platforms. The winner and runner up will both receive an iPod Shuffle and a special certificate of achievement from the U.S. Embassy. The Embassy reserves the right to edit the winning essay for clarity and grammar before it is published on Embassy electronic platforms.

FINALLY: The Embassy’s decisions will be final. No correspondence will be entertained on the decisions.
