Short & Brief One-Act Play Competition (for Ateneo de Manila students | Philippines)

Short and Brief: A Play Writing Contest is open to current students of the Ateneo de Manila University. Participants are to write a straight one-act play with the theme “Man and the New World”. Any style and genre can be used freely.
  • The play must be 25-40 pages long (around 20-30 minutes) strictly following the prescribed format. A sample play written by Dominique La Victoria is provided for reference.
  • The play can be in either English, Filipino, or both, but stage directions must be consistently English or Filipino.
  • Plays must be submitted as a PDF file with e-mail subject and file name as ShortandBrief_.
  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Among the submitted plays, three will be chosen by our chosen judges based on the these criteria: Content, Organization, Creativity, Originality, and Relevance.
  • Winning playwrights will be notified through email and will be invited to the awarding ceremony (details to be announced). The three plays will also be staged as part of the Production Phase of Short and Brief.
  • For anonymity, please do not include your name within your file. Rather, include it within the e-mail message.
