Call for Applications: The 2012 Western Mindanao Writers Workshop (Philippines)

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University is now accepting entries for the "6th Western Mindanao Writers Workshop." The workshop is sponsored by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and will be held from October 22-26, 2012 in Zamboanga City. It will be paneled by nationally and internationally acclaimed literary artist and creative writers.

Interested applicants are required to submit five (5) poems or two short stories written in any of the following languages; namely English, Filipino, Chavacano, Tausug and Bisaya. Preference however will be given entries using the languages native and most common to the region. A novel in progress (not more that 3,000) and a one-act play may also be submitted. All entries should be originally composed. Translations to English or Filipino may accompany the submissions. The entries will be evaluated according to originality, style, impact, imagery, and locale color. Alumni to this workshop may still apply but will not be given priority.

Please submit your entries under a pseudonym together 2 letters of recommendations, a 2x2 picture, a short resume and your real name in sealed envelop to the address below.

Qualified applicants will be notified by the first week of October.
