1st KSOL All India Essay Competition (for law, sociology, political science students | R25,000 top prize | India)

This is the 1st All India Essay Writing Competition organized by School of Law, KIIT University. We have made the participation process comprehensible, fair and secured. We have tried to make this competition as fresh and lively as possible by adding some extra flair here and there and at the same time trying to ensure that the essence of Essay writing competition should not be disregarded. We have made all possible attempts to maintain the prevailing standards of a national level Essay Competition.

THEMES
  • Government Accountability in India: Issues and Challenges.
  • The Interpretation of Legislations in India: Judge’s paradise?
  • Commercial Surrogacy and Family Law Reform in India.

ELIGIBILITY: The participant can be a student of law (LLB or LLM) or sociology or political science or any field relevant to the theme. Students of the Organizing University i.e. School of Law, KIIT University can participate, but they shall not be evaluated for prize money.

WORD LIMIT: Length of the Essay should be within 5000 words (exclusive of end notes). Entries exceeding the word limit will be disqualified. No ‘foot notes’ will be entertained; participants are required to provide ‘end notes’.

SUBMISSION TERMS
  • All submissions must be in electronic medium.
  • We only accept ‘.doc’ or ‘.docx’ file format.
  • Last date of submission is 30th of September’ 2012.
  • We do not allow multiple submissions by a single student.
  • All submissions must be made via this link.
  • No submission shall me made via email accounts.
  • No essay should contain any cover page. The submission shall contain only theme chosen at the top, then the topic, and the body of the essay. Any submission found with any short of names, college name, or contact details shall be shall amount to disqualification.
  • File should be drafted in the following pattern: Times New Roman, 1.5 inch spacing, 12 points font
  • Length of the Essay should be within 5000 words (exclusive of end notes). Entries exceeding the word limit will be disqualified.
  • No ‘foot notes’ will be entertained; participants are required to provide ‘end notes’.
  • It is mandatory to submit a short summary of the essay, in about 30-35 words in the same documents file at the end.
  • Key words must be submitted just before the summary. These must be written like this: SOL, essay, law [format is ‘key word’ separated by a comma (,), then a space ( ).]
  • Submitted essays at the discretion of the editorial members of LawFreaks shall be published in a special section at LawFreaks (with your photo, name and email id), which will be created for this event and may be selected for publication in KLS Journal.

SUBMISSION DATE: Submissions for this Essay Competition should be made by 30th of September 2012 through the provided link in Submission Guidelines.

AWARDS
  • INR 25,000 as 1st Prize
  • INR 20,000 as 2nd Prize
  • INR 15,000 as 3rd Prize
  • INR 5,000 as Consolation Prize to two Participants.

NOTE: Participation Certificate shall be provided to every participant with valid submission.
