Call for Applications from Indonesian Translators: 'Towards an Indonesia Literary Translation Center' Seminar/ Workshop

A workshop is being held for upcoming or early-career Indonesian literary translators, or those who translate into Indonesian (Brochure available on request in Indonesian only).

“TOWARDS AN INDONESIAN LITERARY TRANSLATION CENTER”

Seminar and Workshop, Jakarta, 8-13 October, 2012

The seminar is international (in English) and will discuss conditions for literary translation in Indonesia, Europe and Asia, alongside visits and meetings with Indonesian writers, publishers, editors, translators, reviewers, academia, etc., resulting in a discussion on strategies for setting up the envisioned Indonesian literary translation center, and the start of a network of organizations that can work together on residencies and exchanges.

Participants include representatives from the British Centre for Literary Translation, University of Western Sydney, Literary Translators Association, Norway, University of Adelaide, and the University of Philippines. Indonesian speakers and participants will include publishers, editors, universities, translators, literary and cultural organizations and communities, etc.
