AMI is a French medical NGO operating in Afghanistan since 1981. Currently AMI is the implementer of BPHS and EPHS project in Kunar and Daykundi provinces and is running several other medical projects.

Salamati Magazine is a health magazine published by AMI since 1995 addressed primarily to community health workers. The magazine is published on quarterly basis in English, Dari and Pasto. Each issue of the magazine addresses a specific health topic. Roghtia Magazine is the MoPH communication tool supported by Salamati team; the Roghtia is published on quarterly basis in Dari and Pashto and is addressed to professional health workers.

The Chief Editor is a key position in the Salamati Magazine team, working under expatriate Project Manager the Chief Editor manages one journalist and one distribution officer, as well as supervises and supports Roghtia Magazine Edition officer at MoPH.

THE MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE CHIEF EDITOR ARE:

- Together with the Project Manager to follow all the magazine production steps for both Salamati and Roghtia magazines.
- To supervise and support the Roghtia Magazine Edition Officer.
- To organize editorial committees for each Salamati issue and assign, produce, collect and edit the articles.
- To follow the translation process and verify the translation quality (proofreading) in Dari, Pasto and English languages (proofreading of English text is not required).
- Together with the Distribution officer supervise printing process and verify the end-product quality.
- To supervise distribution of the magazine implemented by the Distribution officer.
- To participate in fundraising activities.
- To replace the Project Manager when needed. To do other tasks assigned by the Project Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

- University degree in journalism, publishing or any other related field.

- Languages: professional knowledge of English and the both national languages - Dari and Pashto - is compulsory. The candidates will require to go through oral and written language tests.

- Experience working in editing, publishing or any other related field in a senior position.

- Experience in writing articles.

- Excellent communication skills.

- Team management experience.

- Having MD, MPH or experience in the medical field is an advantage.
