Applications are invited for four faculty openings. One is at the full Professor level, which will be made under the University's Centenary Recruitment Plan (CRP). Three are at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. The positions are open to distinguished journalism professionals as well as to academics who have earned doctorates and established research records.

The JMSC is a distinguished and established programme that continues to expand in its offering of professional journalism degrees at the bachelor's and master's levels. It also offers master's and doctoral research degrees through the Faculty of Social Sciences. JMSC graduates work at major wire services, broadcast outlets, print publications and online news media throughout the world. For further information on the JMSC, see http://jmsc.hku.hk.

Professional applicants should have significant international experience at major news media as reporters, editors, producers and/or managers. Those with college teaching experience and advanced academic degrees will have definite advantage. We seek candidates who can teach basic reporting, writing and editing, and who have expertise in one or more of the following areas: business journalism, broadcast journalism, Chinese news media, data journalism, online media and documentary film. The appointees will be expected to perform some administrative duties.

Academic applicants should have an earned doctorate, a strong research record in relevant fields and substantial teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Academic appointees will be expected to pursue relevant research, teach and perform some administrative duties.

Interest in digital technology is required of all applicants. Professional applicants will be considered for a non-tenure-accruing, fixed-term, renewable faculty position. Academic applicants could be considered for tenure-track appointment.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as housing benefits, leave, and medical benefits.
