Body & Seoul US Essay Contest: The Korean War Veteran's Enduring Legacy

This year, we commemorate the 59th anniversary of the end of the Korean War and honor those who fought bravely when the Korean peninsula was swept into an armed conflict from 1950 to 1953 in the turmoil of the Cold War.

The essay contest will provide an unparalleled opportunity and access for contest winners and their companions to enjoy all-expenses-paid VIP trip to Korea with special health appreciation package and KWVA's Revisit Korea program sponsored by Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI).

ELIGIBILITY

Open to all US Korean War veterans and their families over the age of 18. Limited to one person per veteran's family (veteran, or a family member.)

SUBMISSION

To participate, submit an original essay at least 1,000 words in length, in English, double spaced, and formatted for 8-1/2" by 11" as attachment with required information to event@khidiusa.org via email no later than June 30, 2012. Indicate the essay topic in the email subject line. The body of email must contain contestant's name; relationship to the veteran; veteran's name, rank and year of service; home address; email; telephone number; and a recent photo of the contestant.

TOPIC

Suggested Topic is 'Korean War Veteran's enduring legacy' (living or deceased), or veteran's own recount of the Korean War. Select entries to be published online and as a print publication.

WINNERS PRIZE: VIP HEALTH APPRECIATION TRIP TO KOREA

Two contest winners and their travel companion will receive an exclusive, all-expenses-paid VIP Health Appreciation Trip to Korea, which includes round trip business-class air tickets and hotel accommodation; KWVA Revisit Korea Program (5 Days); and first-class health and well-being experiences (1 Day). Premier services for the winners and their companions to include executive health screening, spine health program and power aging test.

OFFICIAL WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT & RECOGNITION EVENT

The winners will be selected and contacted early July. An official ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Washington D.C. on Friday, July 27, 2012.
