ROLE SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Research and present business and financial news with a focus on the technology sector in a live television environment, produce and report live events, create digital content.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Covering the technology for business newscasts. This will include hits and packages for CNBC Asia-Pacific and may include hits for CNBC affiliates
· Maintain an appropriate and professional on-air performance and presentation
· Conceiving stories, pitching them to the news editors and executing them with the aim to deliver a high quality and professional product
· Building a solid base of high level contacts within the sector
· Conducting live and taped interviews with CEOs and other guests
· Raise and maintain CNBC’s profile in Asia-Pacific via external engagements which might include appearing at and/or moderating at important industry events
· Leading in the production of live CNBC broadcasts
· Directing the booking and segment-producing of guests
· Liaising with news editors and producers to help drive CNBC editorial planning and priorities
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
· Demonstrated track record in a broadcast environment
· Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of financial markets and business news, particularly with regard to technology
· Strong field producing and packaging skills, coupled with the ability to prioritise
· Excellent news judgement and attention to detail skills
· Lively, engaging on-camera personality
· Fluency in written and spoken English
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
· Good communication, influencing and team skills
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced breaking news environment
· Capability to handle deadline pressure and work under the demands of a daily, live TV show
· Strong TV writing
