Pakistan Post is holding 41st International Letter Writing Competition for Young Peoples 2012, to join move of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). Last date for receipt of the composition is March 20. The theme for the competition is “write a letter to an athlete or sports figure you admire to explain what the Olympic games mean to you”, said a press release issued by Pakistan Post.In addition to Pakistan Postage Stamps Album and certificates of merit; following three cash prizes will be awarded to those winning first three positions in this competition, first prize Rs 20,000, Second prize Rs 10,000,third prize Rs 5,000.
The best letter (English version only) will be sent to the UPU, where a jury set up by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will select winners to be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals bearing relevant inscription and their names as well as albums of the UPU official
Postage stamps. In addition, the best four or five winners will be awarded certificates and consolation prizes by the UPU.
The envelopes must be clearly marked as “41st International Letter Writing Competition 2012”.
Students of not more than 15 years age can participate in the competition by sending a letter either in English or Urdu duly verified by the Head of their educational institution to the Assistant Director (INTL.POST)Pakistan Post Directorate General, Islamabad-44080.
The following particulars should be authenticated by the Head of the Institution, full name, father’s, name, age, class, photograph of the candidate,name of institution with complete address and telephone number and length of letter from 500 to 800 words.
Each participant must send entry by Urgent Mail Service (UMS) or through registered post from any post office. Entries received through private courier service or through DR will not be entertained. The same will be returned to sender.
Sending of entries in bulk is not allowed. Entries received in this way will be returned. The composition must be presented in the form of a letter ( Dear.... and include the address of the recipient and sender as well as a proper signature ending.
