An Essay writing competition in Assam is being organized by NEDFi on occasion of their Foundation Day which is on 9th August 2011 and has therefore published a notification regarding it to invite students of various schools and colleges within the greater Guwahati city to participate in it and mark their presence as well as compete with fellow contestants. The topic of this essay competition is 'How to keep Guwahati City Clean and Green' and students of various institutes can contribute their essays on the above mentioned topic for which the winners will be awarded and honoured on its Foundation Day at Guwahati.
There will be two Groups i.e. A and B for both School and College students and they are classified according to their respective class standards. For instance, school students belonging from 5th to 7th standard will be included in Group-A while those belonging to Class 8 to 10 are placed in Group-B. Similarly, college students of Higher Secondary level i.e. XI and XII standards are categorized within A group while graduation level students from 1st year to 3rd year will belong to B group. The competition will allow the usage of Assamese and English language as the medium of writing and the interested participants can use any of the two medium to compose their essays as would be convenient.
The essays must be composed within a word limit of 500 words on the topic mention above and submit their entries by email to essay@nedfi.com or it can be also posted to the following address before the last date i.e. 27th July 2011.

To be considered as a valid entry, one must include the following details and also follow the form and procedures mentioned below along with their essays.
* Name of the School and Class/College (Department)
* Communication address with contact numbers
* Entries have to be forwarded by Head of the Institutions
The selection of winners will be judged by a committee which will be formed by the corporation and they will be responsible for evaluating each entry and consider various aspects like originality of idea, content and sequence of presentation as well as the writing skills. The decision will be final and one cannot appeal against it under any circumstances. This essay competition is a part of the 'Clean and Green' initiative of North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited and organized as part of the celebration of its Foundation Day on 09.08.2011 in Guwahati. The winners will be awarded on that very day and will be invited to be present on the special occasion. The list of winners will be announced and made available on the 8th day of August 2011 in its website.
