The Fundaçao Oriente (Delegation in India), in association with the Goa Writers' Group, Konkani Bhasha Mandal and a local English daily, will organise a “Goan Short Stories 2011” competition to contribute towards Indo-Portuguese cultural exchange and promotion of Goan identity.
The competition is open to those aged 18 and above, normally residents of Goa. Amateur writers, aspiring writers as well as established writers can contribute short stories in Konkani (Devanagiri and Romi), Portuguese or English.
Stories will be accepted between July 1 and September 30. The winners will be announced on December 1, 2011. Three prizes, first prize Rs. 20,000, second Rs.15,000 and third Rs.10,000, will be given. Entries for “Goan Short Stories 2011” competition must be previously unpublished. They must have at least 1,525 words (approx 2.5 A4 pages) and not more than 3,000 words (approx 5 A4 pages). Participants may submit their entries either by email, CD or on paper.
All entries must reach Fundacao Oriente, 175 Filipe Neri Xavier Road, Fontainhas, behind People's High School, Panjim, Goa 403 001, by September 30.
