The University

QU remains the largest and only state-supported university in Qatar.

The College

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) houses nine departments, covering a wide range of specializations in the Arts and Sciences including English and Arabic Languages, History, Geography and Urban Planning, Sociology, Social Work, International Affairs, Mass Communication, Information Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and Human Nutrition.
Position Summary The Department of Mass Communication at Qatar University invites applications for Assistant/Associate/ Professor in Print / online Journalism. The Department of Mass Communication expects the successful applicant to build curriculum and direction/vision for print and online journalism in the 21st century for media organizations in the Arab world. The successful applicant will not only teach, but guide students toward successful internships and jobs in print and online media industry.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities for Broadcast Journalism position:

An earned Doctorate in Communications or Doctorate in Journalism. College-level experience teaching all aspects of newspaper writing and editing , newspaper production and experience with management of news websites . Professional experience in print journalism is required, knowledge of advanced web publishing a plus. The department of Mass Communication seeks a candidate whose teaching style supports a diverse student body. The successful candidate is expected to teach Writing for print and online , news editing, investigative journalism, online journalism, websites news writing and website publishing. In addition to teaching the candidate is expected to conduct research/produce professional creative quality work. Candidate will also spearhead initiatives to integrate new and emerging production techniques in undergraduate curricula.

Responsibilities will include a teaching load of three-four courses per semester

The Candidate should have a commitment to excellent teaching and college service, including participation in student advising and recruitment. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Position Term: Three Years Renewable

Competencies:

1. College-level experience teaching all aspects of print and online journalism.
2. Professional experience in print journalism is required, knowledge of advanced web publishing a plus.
3. Bilingual in Arabic and English

Qualifications:

1. An earned Doctorate in Communications in Journalism.
2. Professional experience in the field print and digital journalism
3. College-level experience in teaching news writing and editing courses for print and online journalism
