Job Opening: Editor/ Writer for Turret Media (Abu Dhabi)

25 April 2011
Job Opening: Editor/ Writer for Turret Media (Abu Dhabi)
We are building a team for the launch of a new local daily print publication in Abu Dhabi. We need a proactive editor with a solid background in newspapers (ideally dailies, could be local newspapers) and a willingness to commit to what will probably be a brand new environment. We also need our editor to be a fast mover -- and a fast starter: we want to be doing dummies in a matter of weeks.

The editor will help develop the newspaper's strategy and will be largely responsible for recruitment. We offer a good tax-free salary, health insurance, all visa processing, and a return flight each year; we're also flexible about assistance with relocation if you need it.

The UAE is one of the few places in the world where print publishing still works commercially. We're a successful local publisher (small, well-funded, profitable, keen, entrepreneurial) with a number of print, online and video products -- and ambitions to grow. We're looking for people who will share our entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of excitement; this is not a job for those who like safety, an easy life, or the support infrastructure of a big organisation.

We are also looking for a full team. So we’d be interested to hear from you if you might be candidates for other senior staff position – Chief Sub, Production Editor, Features Editor and Advertising Sales Manager – or staff writers, sales executives and InDesign-proficient designers.

Resumes ASAP please to Dennis Jarrett, editorial director -- dj@turretme.com.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience, but around the £50,000 level (tax-free) plus benefits.
