The 3rd annual Australian International School Short story competition is open for international school students in Vietnam. This competition allows young people to explore their creative story telling talents. The short stories must be submitted in English with the signature item or symbol of GRAVITY.

This Signature Item is not a ‘theme’ but rather, a ‘signature’ or symbol that can appear anywhere in your short story and acts as proof that it was written specifically for this short story writing competition.

The Short Story has four age categories:
1 7 - 9 years old, 500 word, Handwritten or Word Processed
2 10 -12 years old, 1000 words, Word Processed
3 13 - 15 years old, 1500 words, Word Processed
4 16 -18 years old, 1500 words, Word Processed
All age categories are based on the students’ age on 1 April 2010
ENTRY GUIDELINES
The story
• must be written specifically for the 2011 Competition
• must include the Signature Item (‘Gravity’).
• should not exceed the word length stated for each category
• must be suitable for students under 15 years old
(no excessive violence, sexual references or coarse language)
Stories are judged by international authors

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES
• Do not write your name on the story, for transparency when judging takes place.
• Ensure you attach your entry form to your short story
• Word processed stories should be written
- In a Word Document
- 11 Font Arial
- Double spaced and in black
- Short listed authors will be asked to resubmit their story electronically

CHECKLIST:
• Complete the entry form (available at an AIS Campus near your or online)
• Ensure your story is in a Word doc for online registration
• Make sure you have not written your name on the story
• Deliver both entry form and story to an AIS Primary or Secondary campus or SCAN and email to hoasen@aisvietnam.com

- Your short story does not include the Signature Item (‘Gravity’)
- Your short story is over the word limit
- Your short story contains excessive or gratuitous violence, sexual references, profanity/coarse language, use of substances or with content that advocates and supports racial, cultural, and religious or gender bias
- The short story writer applicant is older than the age limit requirements
- Your parent/guardian has not agreed to the terms and conditions outlined on the entry form
