We're looking for a creative and versatile content editor to help program movies, entertainment and lifestyle at Yahoo! India. Candidates should enjoy innovating and be comfortable blending exclusive, original and aggregated material and user-generated content to create a compelling site that engages users and encourages repeat visits. You should have a flair for identifying worthy, attractive content and smart packaging. The ideal candidate will have a feel for what works on the Web in India and a passion for entertainment and, and popular culture. You should be flexible, quick-thinking, energetic, efficient, and able to work independently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills are a must, as this position requires interacting with fellow editors and employees throughout Yahoo! Enthusiasm to work and teamwork should be the two topmost soft skills. On-the-ground contact in the Entertainment industry in Mumbai is essential.
Responsibilities:
Updating the Movies channel of Yahoo! Indias front page and respective properties with fresh, compelling and relevant content Edit and write headlines and copy, select and crop photos, create packages that range from breaking news to features on the top entertainment and lifestyle stories of the day Selecting relevant copyMaking great choices, crafting clever headlines and tease copy, choosing and cropping appropriate images Be aware of and attend film-related events such as previews and shoots Contact stars for interviews, photo shoots, etc Understanding the Yahoo! India audience, and its interests Proactively programming and packaging material from throughout the Yahoo! network
Requirements:
A minimum of 2-4 years experience working in a dynamic editorial environment in Movies and lifestyle in print and / or online media. A solid grounding in the basic principles of packaging, editing and writing for the Web. Demonstrable headline writing, image selection and content packaging skills. A thorough understanding of editorial best practices and priorities, and an authoritative grasp of the AP Stylebook. Be very comfortable with technology and pick up online publishing tools fast. Knowledge of photoshop is an asset. B.A. required, preferably in Mass Comm, Journalism or Literature. The position will require working in shifts and is a 6-day week. It will be based in Bangalore Mumbai or in Delhi, India.
