The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam invites Mr. Masatsugu Ono, one of the promising young writers in Japan, to host the travelling lectures on Japanese contemporary literature in Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City from 8 – 12 March 2011.

Equipped with Ph. D in Literature at the University of Paris VIII, Mr. Masatsugu Ono has been actively working on literature, ranging from creations of novels, translations of foreign literatures, to literary critics and lectures at public spaces.
He made his debut as a writer/author in 2001 with the novel “Mizu ni Umoreru Haka [lit. Graves Buried in Water],” for which he won the Asahi New Writer’s Award. In his second novel “Nigiyakana Wan ni Seowareta Fune [lit. The Ship Piggybacked by Jolly Bay],” he received the honor of the Mishima Yukio Prize.
Since then until now, he has been nominated twice for the Akutagawa Prize, one of the most prestigious literary prizes in Japan, and his sharp critics on the other contemporary literatures have frequently appeared on newspapers, magazines, and websites.
His multi-angled perspectives on literature will assure you of the understanding of stimulating issues on the contemporary world of Japanese literature. We hope the audience will enjoy the intellectual discoveries. The lecture will be delivered in Japanese with Vietnamese interpretation. Admission is free. Advanced registration is highly recommended.
