UST ANNOUNCES 2ND THOMASIAN WRITERS WORKSHOP
The office of the Writer-in-Residence of the University of Santo Tomas is announcing the holding of the second Thomasian Writers Workshop which will be held this summer at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) campus in Manila.
The workshops cater exclusively to Thomasians. It is open to writers—students, alumni, faculty members or non-teaching staffers—who have not been awarded fellowships to any national writing workshop.
The workshop will be held from April 4-8, 2011 at the St. Raymund’s Building in UST and. A formal dinner will be held on the final day.
The five-day workshop will focus on poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction both in English and Filipino. To conduct the workshop are major figures in the local literary circle. Guest panelists will also be invited during the workshop proper.
Some 12 fellowships will be available for the workshop. Applications for the workshop will be accepted until March 28, 2011. Applicants should submit three printed copies (on short bond paper) and a CD or diskette containing soft copies in MS Word format of their manuscript (at least five poems or two fiction or non-fiction pieces in English or Filipino).
They should also submit their resumé, a 2x2 ID photo, and a certification of authenticity duly signed by any official of their college or faculty or any other officer from the institution or company they are presently employed in.

The second Thomasian Writers Workshop is a continuation of last year's summer workshop spearheaded by the late UST Writer-in-Residence Ophelia Alcantara Dimalanta. The activity is also is only one of the many activities that the UST is holding for its students, alumni, and faculty
members in conjunction with the celebration of the University’s 400th year.
