Undergraduate Israel Essay Competition

The Nazarian Center for Israel Studies is pleased to announce the first UCLA Undergraduate Israel essay competition. The competition is open to any UCLA undergraduate enrolled and in good standing.

Students are invited to submit academic essays of a variety of kinds—review essays, research papers, textual studies—with a focus on Israeli politics, society, or culture.

The essays should be between 3,000 and 6,000 words in length, and will be refereed by a committee of UCLA faculty.

Prize:

One round-trip airfare to Israel courtesy of El Al Israel Airlines and World Express Travel Agency.

The winner will be requested to make a brief presentation of the winning paper at a student gathering in the fall quarter 2011.

Deadline for Submission:

Essays must be submitted by Friday, April 29, 2011 to: Israel@international.ucla.edu
