Journalist/Senior Web Production Editors(National Capital Region)

The Role

The successful applicant will join a team of production editors based in the FT’s Makati office, which works in close co-ordination with the editorial offices in London, New York and Hong Kong. The team handles all aspects of online editorial production work, including re-editing newspaper stories for the web, writing web headlines and standfirsts, hyperlinking and tagging, and selecting, cropping and embedding pictures. The team also moderates readers’ comments and updates the homepages.

Applicants must have a good knowledge of the business world, possess sound news judgment and have the ability and willingness to adapt to the FT’s editing style and meet its high standards. They should have the confidence and communication skills to mentor junior members of the team.

Requirements:

The candidates we are looking for must

● Have a minimum of six years’ experience as an editor or journalist in a quality media organisation

● Have a proven track record in media, preferably both print and online, as well as the ability to adhere to very strict editorial standards

● Have an excellent command of written and spoken English

● Have an ability to produce quality work within tight daily deadlines

● Possess a genuine interest in news and have the ability to work with minimum supervision

● Have a keen eye for detail

● Have the ability to learn new technical skills quickly

● Have a degree in journalism, social sciences, humanities, English literature or a related subject

● Be able to work on a variable shift schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays

● Be able to demonstrate project management skills, including the ability to make sound judgments and quick decisions

Salary range
