Pajhwok has a network of reporters nationwide larger than any other news agency in the country. Pajhwok provides comprehensive, reliable, timely and bias-free news about Afghanistan from an Afghan perspective. Location of Job: Kabul- Afghanistan
Job Summary:
• Monitor English news sources
• Attend morning editor's meeting and offer stories to be generated in English
• Cooperate with photo department on assigning photos to stories
• Speak with editors and reporters for any additional information needed for English service audience
• Compile additional background needed for English audience
• Choose stories to be translated for English service
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provide regular analysis on English service content to Pajhwok admin and international trainers
• Edit translated stories and write headlines
• Publish English stories or ensure that they are published
• Assist with managing reporters or editing stories in Dari as requested by newsroom
• Alert marketing to important news developments for English audience throughout the day
• Coordinate with English service head of the English Service on coverage for evening
• Point out and explain to translators any misspellings or mistranslations
• Assist in developing journalism skills for translators
• Participate in Virtual Newsroom discussions and ensure that feedback is noted by English Service staff
• Participate in other staff activities as requested

Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Journalism, master degree is an asset. Or other job relevant fields
- 2 years experience in public sector coordination and news coordination.
- Excellent fluency in Dari or Pashto and English language
- Political and analytical skills
- Comprehensive experience in public sector or management of post conflict countries.
- Experience on research
- Experience of leading and motivating teams of people towards the achievement of agreed ends
- Purposeful, energetic,, aware of the importance of details, efficient and considerate in the use of resources, reliable and able to act quickly
- Willing and able to guide, support and encourage others in the performance of their duties
- Willing to devote his out of duty time to join with other PAN appointees in developing professional skills
