The Serah Competition is a premier academic conference which spans grades from middle school through college. Students are asked to choose one of a few given topics. They are then to write a paper about that topic in light of the Serah. Youth from communities all over Michigan will have the opportunity to research the life and sayings of the Prophet (pbuh) and create a presentation that is both analytical and narrative.

Poetry Contest
On the occasion of the birth of the beloved of Allah (pbuh).
Islamic civilization, beginning with the Sahaba, has a rich tradition of poetry in honor of our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) known as naat, nasheed and qasidas. In this contest we invite you to submit and present poems honoring the blessed Prophet (pbuh).
Three to five poems will be selected for presentation during the Sira competition. All presenters will receive a prize, the top presenter will receive a special award.
Guidelines for Poetry Submission:
1. The poem should be of appropriate length to be recited in 3-5 minutes.
2. The poem must be in English
3. Original poetry is strongly encouraged, although elements of classical poems may be incorporated.
4. The poetry should directly relate to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh).
5. The individual topics and themes are flexible and may include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Love for the Prophet (pbuh)
b. If we saw the Prophet what would we say?
c. The greatness of the Prophet (pbuh)
d. Allahs love for the Prophet (pbuh)
e. Peace and blessings on the Prophet (pbuh)
Once submitted the poems are reviewed by an independent panel of judges, with expertise in Islamic poetry and literature. The top three poems will be selected as finalists and the authors will be invited to present at the Serah Competition. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be recognized at the Awards ceremony.
