The Euro-Jordanian Press Award for Excellence in Writing, initiated by the European Union Delegation to Jordan, honours the best in-depth report tackling social and economic issues in Jordan.
The award is meant to raise the professional standard of in-depth journalism and to recognize the work of excelling journalists in the kingdom. It also aims at encouraging Jordanian journalists to cover controversial issues in order to contribute to a change in perception or policy.
The award ceremony will be held in June 2011.
First, second and third place winners will be awarded 3,000, 2,000 and 1000 Jordanian Dinars respectively.

What to Include in the Application*
1. The completed registration form
2. The entire published report in its original form.
3. Proof of publication (Scanned copy of the published report or a letter proving the authenticity of the publication, signed by the person in charge of the publication).
4. A resume.
* Any missing documents will result in the disqualification of candidate.

Rules and Regulations
* The competition is open to Jordanian journalists only.
* Reports should be published in Jordanian daily, weekly or monthly newspapers or magazines as well as pan-Arab daily publications and the online press.
* Reports should not exceed a total of 1500 words
* Reports should have been published between January and December 2010.
* A candidate may apply only once to the competition each year.
* Candidates may submit one report or a series of reports on the same subject.
* Candidates may only apply on an individual basis.
* The report may not be the product of a project funded by any institution/organization.
* Applicants should submit the entire report or reports in original form as published.
* Applicants should submit a proof of publication (original copy or photocopy of the published report, or a letter proving the authenticity of the publication, signed by the person in charge of the publication).
* The report or reports should not be the subject of any legal action.
* Applicants must not be members or related to any members of the jury, employees of the European Union or event organizers.
* The jury’s decision will be final.
* The European Union assumes the right to reproduce the winning reports or portions thereof.
* Application material will not be returned.
