Call for Contributions: The Ancient Iranian Studies Series
Call for Contributions

The Centre for the Great Islamic Encyclopaedia (CGIE) welcomes contributions to the Ancient Iranian Studies Series. The language of publication is English. Proposals and manuscripts in all related fields, including dissertations, festschrifts, memorial volumes and proceedings of conferences, will be considered.

Please follow these guidelines in preparing your manuscript for submission:

1. Before submitting the manuscript itself, you should first send the General Editor a
query letter. Your letter should include the following information:

(1) the subject of your manuscript;
(2) a table of contents;
(3) approximate length of the manuscript;
(4) your intended audience; and
(5) your qualifications.

2. The manuscript should be submitted in print (3 hard copies) and on a clearly labelled 3.5-inch disk or CD-Rom in Microsoft Word format.

3. The page-size for the published books will be 17 x 24 cm.

4. Margins: top (including header), bottom: 2 cm; right, left: 2.5 cm.

5. Even page numbers should be on the left side, uneven page numbers on the right side. Please place headers accordingly. All page numbers should be printed with the same font and size.

6. A new file should be created for each chapter or other major subdivision. Front matter, bibliography, and other apparatus should be in separate files. Do not put the entire manuscript into one enormous file. Name files sequentially in the order that they will appear in the book.

7. An abstract (ca. 200 words) should be included on a separate sheet of paper. The abstract is used for advertising and for the back cover. The abstract should also contain some information on the author.

8. The text should be written in Times New Roman 12.

9. Footnotes should be separated from the text by a line.

10. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively.

11. Maps, photographs and diagrams should be submitted camera-ready. In all instances the copyright should be made clear.

12. Bibliographical references should be given in alphabetical order. Entries should conform to the conventions of the respective discipline. All entries should be indented from the second line on.

13. For linguistic publications the transcription that has become the convention should be used consistently throughout the whole text. Once your manuscript has been received, it will be reviewed both by the Editorial Board and by outside specialists. The final decision to publish will normally be based on this evaluation.

Once your manuscript has been accepted, you will be offered a publishing contract that spells out the reciprocal responsibilities of the CGIE and the author, the handling of subsidiary rights, and royalty arrangements.
