The AFS-Asia Pacific Initiative known as AAI, a regional organization compose of Ten (10) countries: Australia, China, Hongkong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines and Thailand embarks on a new intercultural opportunity, involving young professionals who are willing and able to act as responsible global citizens advocating the respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms towards a more just and peaceful world. This program, entitled AAI JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP GRANT, envisions journalists of communication in broadcasting and print (ages 25-35) from the participating regions to develop best practices and reporting scheme that will be of great influence to people’s lives and will result to a stronger tie between the two AFS regional organizations.

The program will be identified as a short program with the duration of two-three weeks. Ideally, it will be administered by the AFS-Asia Pacific Initiative (AAI) in partnership with AFS-Latin America Southern Cone Region. The goal is to embark journalists in the several regional issues of mutual concern as though as economic cooperation and political ties.
The implementation of the program will start on April 2011 for two-three weeks.

Who is Eligible?
Please observe the specific requirements for the scholarship that is offered. Applicants will be carefully assessed through a panel of interviewers that would determine their eligibility. To qualify for merit based scholarship. students must show a strong academic record, leadership skills, and community involvement. For need based financial aid, students must demonstrate financial need, show interest in community service, and be willing to let AFS choose a suitable country.
