With the re-launch of the VCinema site complete and our first full episode released since that re-launch (and another coming soon), we are now in the third phase of our project: launching the VCinema blog. In the past, this site has only been used as the catalog for our podcast episodes, but as you may have already seen, we are planning to have VCinema be a place to go for news, reviews, and special features. Of course, to achieve this, we need writers and this is where you (hopefully) come in.
People interested in writing for VCinema should:
* Be passionate about Asian film and writing. It helps if you specialize in a particular country/region (Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, etc.) and/or can deliver an interesting or unique perspective (i.e. social, political, etc.)
* Be able to write reasonably well and be open to having their writing edited.
* Be able to deliver their writing in a timely manner.
* Be willing to contribute to the podcast sometimes.
We are also looking for authors who are interested in writing for us on an infrequent or even “one-off” basis. So, for example, if you are a film student and have a paper on Kurosawa that we might be interested in publishing or a blogger and have an article about John Woo that doesn’t fit your format, but you don’t necessarily want to be a VCinema staff writer, then let us know.
Interested parties should contact us at vcinema@variedcelluloid.net and include a writing sample or a link to your site/blog. Also, please state whether you are interested in being a short form (reviews, news, short features) or long form (feature series, retrospectives) writer.
