Senior Web Production Editor (National Capital Reg - Quezo City)
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for all aspects of ESSC online editorial production work, from preparing stories for the web to picture selection and homepage publishing. You will edit submitted stories, transform reports into stories, write appropriate headlines and picture captions while ensuring production quality.
ESSC is responsible for the following regularly updated websites:
In addition, you will moderate readers’ comments and ensure the regular production of stories within the deadlines. Hyperlinking, tagging and embedding pictures and multimedia are other essential duties of this role.
You must have a good knowledge of the environment world, possess sound news judgement and have the ability and willingness to adapt to ESSC’s editing and writing style and meet its standards.
You should be able to proofread and make necessary revisions of stories and have the confidence and communication skills to mentor junior staff.
Requirements:
* You have a sharp eye for detail
* You possess an excellent command of written and spoken English
* You have a degree in Journalism, Social Sciences, Humanities, English Literature or a related course
* You adapt quickly to new software and working practices
* You have experience as an editor or journalist
* Should have a proven track record in media, preferably for both print and online, as well as the ability to adhere to editorial standards
* Must be able to demonstrate project management skills, including the ability to make sound judgements and quick decisions
* Must be able to produce quality work within daily deadlines
* Should have a genuine interest in news and the ability to work with minimum supervision
* Should have the ability to learn new technical skills quickly
* Ideally, would have had the experience working as a production editor for a quality online newsletter, website, publication or other media organization with a global audience
