New Media Producer & Editor
Responsibilities:
The position will be assisting the Director of New Media to operationalise Content Strategy for SingTel’s lifestyle website inSing.com.
The role would be responsible for managing operations of the assigned channels and content areas, ensuring usability and quality of the assigned channels and driving the portal usage and traffic. He or she will be working with content freelancers, external and internal IT teams, marketing teams, technology partners, service providers, and SingTel business units to seamlessly execute content initiatives.
The role will also ensure all assigned projects or initiatives are implemented on time and within the budget.
* Edit content submitted by freelancers or users. Select user-appealing stories and write headlines, taglines or teasers to increase the readiness
* Report on assigned events and write articles for relevant channels
* Work with content, products, marketing and development teams at SingTel and third parties
* Work with other producers/editors and freelancers to develop or source for editorial content. Ensure the quality of content and portal usability are maintained
* Evaluate and identify appropriate partners / vendors to fulfill the requests of new portal initiatives. Manage external vendors or freelancers
* Use content management system or tools (CMS) to update content and manage day-to-day portal content production
* Set agenda or topics for freelancers. Establish virtual community or interest groups and identify leaders within the virtual community / groups
* Create editorial guideline and ensure the quality of editorial content
* Contribute to the development of portal design, content proposition and user interface across online and mobile platforms
Requirements:
* Must have a degree from a recognized university preferably in media, journalism, communication, or technology
* Must have at least 8 years of post-graduation working experience, of which at least the most recent 5 years are in content or channel development in media, new media, online, web or mobile business in Asia Pacific region. Experience in consumer-facing portals
* In-depth understanding and experience in content and channel development for online, mobile and other new media platforms in a Telco, Media or digital media company in Asia Pacific region
* In-depth understanding and knowledge of Singapore lifestyle trends, societal trends and population consumer trends
* Understanding of key players and market trends in new media industry. Strengths in vendor / partner relationship management
* Knowledge of web or mobile tools and applications. In-depth knowledge of template design and user interface for online and mobile portals. Excellent capacity to evaluate and recommend the best of breed technology
* Self starter who possesses strong planning and organizational skills, excellent project management skills Experience in managing budget in content area
* Excellent newspaper or magazine writing and editing skills in English
* Ability to recruit and organize a group of freelancing writers, photographers and contributors
* Experience in digital video production and editing for online or mobile screens (optional)
* Customer and partner focused

* Worked in new media (eg Google, Yahoo, MSN)
* Knowledge of telecommunications advantageous
