An international publishing company based in Singapore is looking to recruit one or two talented/experienced journalists to our Makati Office to strengthen our editorial team.

For the last seven years Alphabet Media has published the award-winning FutureGov magazine, a bi-monthly English language publication that covers public sector modernisation in Asia Pacific. As part of our business expansion plans, the company is looking to recruit additional journalists.

FutureGov magazine covers the work of government, education and healthcare administrators to improve the productivity, governance and service delivery of their organisations. Our readers are civil servants, and our content is based on exclusive interviews with senior officials, and the executives of technology companies.

The Asia Pacific edition of FutureGov is at the centre of the company’s growth plans in Southeast Asia, and mirrors similar regional editions in China and India. The successful candidate will be based at the Enterprise Center in Makati and work closely with editorial colleagues in Singapore, China and India. This job will require several days travel a month – both within the Philippines and internationally.

Senior Journalist / Journalist
PHP 20000 - 25000 (Depending on experience)
(National Capital Reg - Makati)

Responsibilities:

* Interview senior officials from the Government of the Philippines, local government, universities, healthcare organisations
* Keep abreast of key policy and project announcements – especially where they involve the use of enterprise technology by public sector organisations
* Interview senior executives at enterprise technology companies (eg. IBM, Microsoft, SAP, Oracle etc.)
* Write feature articles for the magazine
* Write advertorial copy for magazine and online
* Write 200-300 word news stories for the magazine, and online
* Represent FutureGov magazine at third party press briefings, conferences, exhibitions
* Moderate events organised by FutureGov magazine
* Conduct video interviews of senior officials, for distribution online

Requirements:

* Excellent English written & spoken communications skills
* Able to build rapport and gain the trust of senior-level interviewees
* Disciplined, self-starter able to remain motivated in a small office environment
* Established journalist track record, with experience of interacting with public sector and/or technology companies
* Familiarity with the Philippines political and administrative context
* Familiarity with key technology trends, and how they affect largescale enterprises
* Minimum of two years writing experience; ability to write British English
* Sense of humour
