Thomson Reuters LPC is seeking for an experienced high-profile journalist with strong writing and editing skills to lead editorial coverage of Asia Pacific's syndicated loan markets, including Japan, in its global loan team. The bureau chief will lead a team of six journalists, producing real time news, commentary and analysis for Thomson Reuters online and publication businesses.
He or she will manage and direct the Asian file, using top-level banking contacts to help break news from multibillion cross-border M&A deals to structured leveraged buyouts and plain vanilla lending. The position requires deep market knowledge to identify market-moving pan-regional and domestic themes and trends and the ability to put them in a broader capital markets and global context.
The role will be responsible for real-time loan output on LPC's real-time service LoanConnector and be the main point of contact for the Reuters news teams in Asia as well as producing copy for IFR Asia and Basis Point magazine. The bureau chief will work closely with a team of skilled data analysts to produce statistical analysis and will also liase with Reuters Insider to produce television coverage across Thomson Reuters multimedia platform.
The successful candidate will act as an ambassador for Thomson Reuters' Asian loans business by presenting to sophisticated audiences at external and internal meetings and conferences and use their contacts to help TRLPC further develop its business.
The bureau chief will also have the flexibility and management skills to develop a cohesive team that sets the news agenda for professionals in the loan and broader credit world.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level, journalism school qualifications a plus.
* At least five years experience with major financial news organizations
* Track record of breaking news, strong writing and editing skills
* High level contacts in commercial and investment banks and institutional investors
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Ability to lead and direct staff and encourage practical problem-solving
* In-depth knowledge of markets and investment banking
* Languages skills helpful for international capital markets coverage
* Multimedia experience a plus
