ALM, based in New York, is the world's leading publisher of newspapers and magazines for lawyers. Titles include The American Lawyer, National Law Journal, Corporate Counsel, New York Law Journal and several other regional and specialized publications.

Responsibilities:

* Oversee design and launch of a Hong Kong-based e-newsletter on the Asian legal market. Initial frequency will be weekly, increasing to daily.
* Assign and edit weekly or daily articles for e-newsletter, including breaking news and features.
* Handle web production duties for e-newsletter.
* Work with other editors and the reporting team on further developing Asia newsletter and other products, including data-related projects that will appeal to the legal audience.
* Collect and analyze web usage data.

Requirements:

* 3-5 years previous editing experience, including demonstrated experience editing daily web articles. Two years of legal and/or business journalism experience. Strong familiarity with Asia region, including economics, politics and culture. Should have ability to draw comparisons with Western models.
* Reasonable grasp of basic financial, economic, legal and regulatory concepts.
* Asian language ability, especially Mandarin Chinese, is useful but not necessary.
* Able to work with reporters of varying levels of experience and to collaborate with editorial staff based in New York.
* Strong news judgment. We want an editor who has or will develop a deep passion for legal affairs and business reporting.
* Must be able to produce and present news on a multimedia platform.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
