Job Opening: Regional Editor for Baby Center India (babycenter.in)
BabyCenter International is recruiting a Regional Editor to manage and grow our successful website www.babycenter.in and to work on new projects in India and nearby countries. The editor will be involved in developing the content for our new mobile phone programme.

The editor will manage a team of three editors who produce the content for the site. They will work alongside a business development manager and a project manager who will lead on the mobile phone programme.

We need an editor who believes passionately in the value of BabyCenter and will work with us to achieve front-runner success in the country, and lead our expansion into other local countries.

Role description:

* Plan the development of BabyCenter India with input from the International Editor-in-Chief BabyCenter.

* Manage the editorial team of Content Editor, User Experience Editor and Community Manager.

* Oversee the localisation of the BabyCenter content, ensuring that it reflects the local culture, and healthcare and parenting practices.

* Manage the creation of new editorial content and features. The editorial team will commission, edit, write and package content, or will partner with 3rd party content creators.

* Work with a team of suitable medical experts as consultants to check the accuracy and suitability of the site content.

* Develop, train, and manage a team of freelance editors, writers, and contractors.

* Represent the company in print, TV, and radio interviews and with external clients.

* Make sure that the editorial content of BabyCenter India complies with government regulations and recommendations.

* Manage the editorial budget for BabyCenter India.

* Work with the Mobile Project Manager and the International Editor-in-Chief to develop the content for our mobile phone programmes.

The ideal candidate will:

* be a health journalist or editor or have a strong interest in, and knowledge of health issues in the country

* have good contacts with health professionals and others in the area of pregnancy and parenting

* be used to managing large scale projects and budgets and be able to bring them in on time and on budget

* have had experience managing an editorial team and demonstrated the ability to develop their skills

* have international experience and be able to demonstrate that they can work at a strategic level to develop the BabyCenter brand in the region

* be able to work as part of a global team, and be prepared to travel nationally and internationally as needed

* be passionate about bringing good quality content and information to parents

* be able to cope with the changing demands of working in the high tech area of websites and mobile phone programmes

* be able to show experience of recruiting and training staff in new roles

* be used to representing the company in public, at conferences and seminars, and to press and on radio and TV.

This role reports to the International Editor-in-Chief BabyCenter. This role is available as a contractor with a rolling contract. It can be mostly home-based. Interviews will take place by phone and email, with face to face interviews taking place in Delhi.
