In line with our expansion, we invite enthusiastic, self-motivated and suitably qualified individuals to apply for the positions of news writer, reporter and producer. Note that given the breaking news environment, you will be working on multiple deadlines and may need to wear several hats. News Writer, Reporter and Producer (Selangor - Petaling Jaya)
Responsibilities:
Business FM 89.9, Malaysia's only business radio station, is looking for a business news reporter to cover breaking news and longer-term stories affecting Malaysian markets and minds.
* Pitching news stories, researching newsworthy topics and reporting them in and outside the office
* Developing a keen news sense for what is moving the markets and Malaysia as a whole
* Developing a roster of contacts throughout Malaysia to draw upon for interviews and background
* Liaising with various show producers to bring back the most newsworthy material
* Persuading busy people why they should take the time to speak to BFM
* Editing and post-producing news and interview clips for use on the air
Requirements:
* Ideally at least two years reporting experience covering business and/or general news.
* A lively curiosity, outgoing personality and a hunger to break a story first, and better than the competition.
* A willingness to be coached and a team player mentality.
* A willingness to work on a modest journalist's salary in a young media company, but with lots of perks.
* Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study.
* At least 5 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
* Applicants must be willing to work in Petaling Jaya.
