Speech Writer (Perak - Ipoh)
General Description:
Responsible for creating strategic, high impact speeches, presentations, and other executive communications for senior officials, and for ensuring that they are prepared for media-related activities and other public relations events.
* Serves as the primary author of high-impact communications.
* Plans, researches and drafts speeches on major initiatives and activities.
* Drafts materials in support of the related initiatives.
* Edits publications, including postings to system mailing lists, Web postings, press releases, and other system-wide communications.
* Provides other writing/ editorial services and works with staff to improve quality, clarity, and consistency of written communications.
* Maintains active awareness of activities and projects, as well as emerging media industry trends, technology changes, and governmental issues.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public/community relations, marketing OR equivalent experience.
* Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in media relations or public relations, specifically demonstrating superior writing skills, including writing comprehensively on a variety of topics in multiple formats, such as executive speeches, op-eds, testimony, and press releases.
* Superior communication skills including influencing, persuasion, public speaking, and consensus-building skills across all levels and areas of an organization.
* Possess excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work well with others at all levels.
* Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and ability to meet multiple, simultaneous, and tight deadlines.
* Communication - Excellent written and oral skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
