Description: The Ghalib Institute gives awards to the people every year for their contribution to the Urdu in various ways. The Ghalib Awards, given in the spheres of Urdu prose, poetry, criticism, and drama etc., are considered highly prestigious in academic world; and carry Rs 50,000 each, an insignia and a citation. The award was named after Mirza Asadullah Khan 'Ghalib, a poet and writer who wrote both in Urdu and Persian.
