Along with our standard tried-and- true Conversations, Gourmet events, Workshops, Performances, Tours and Children’s Programme, we have introduced some new features to the festival this year:
FESTIVAL OPENING IN COLOMBO: This year, the Festival begins in Colombo on January 20th with a special event at Park Street Mews featuring Louis de Bernières of Captain Corelli's Mandolin fame.
SPOTLIGHT ON MALAYSIA: The festival celebrates Malaysia’s literature and cuisine this year. You will find the events marked *Spotlight on Malaysia,* throughout the programme.
ROUND TABLES WITH READINGS: We have extended our panel discussions from 1 hour to 1 ½ hours, so that writers can read from their work and give audience a context for the discussion that follows.
BREAKFAST BOOKCLUBS: A chance to meet authors at an intimate breakfast gathering and quiz them about their book under discussion. You don’t have to read the book to attend. See Gourmet Events for details.
PICNIC: Free lunchtime concerts that focus on Indian and Sri Lankan music, dance and drama. They will take place on the shady lawn of the Thomas Gall International School. Buy a picnic lunch from the Lit Café or bring your own.
TEA AND POETRY: Enjoy Afternoon Tea on terraces, verandahs or in gardens, and be entranced by the magic of poetry. Each Afternoon Tea will feature a different menu. See Gourmet Events for details.
SUNSET SERIES: At the end of an energetic day of literature and culture, relax with a cocktail or glass of wine and be further edified by visually enhanced lectures, panel discussions and readings.
